Overview

ScoTab (“the App”) is a basketball scoreboard application covering the NBA, WNBA, EuroLeague, and NCAA. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data We Collect

Anonymous Device Identifier

When you first open the App, a random device identifier (UUID) is generated and stored locally on your device. This identifier is used to save your preferences (favorite teams, favorite players, predictions, and poll votes) without requiring an account. This identifier is not linked to your real identity and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Account Information (Optional)

If you choose to create an account, we collect:

• Email address — used for login only
• Display name — shown alongside your comments and predictions
• Password — stored securely as a hashed value (we never store plain-text passwords)

Social Login (Optional)

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive:

• Your name and email address from the provider
• A provider-specific user identifier

We do not receive or store your Google or Apple password.

User-Generated Content

If you post comments, make predictions, or vote in polls, that content is stored on our servers and associated with your account or device identifier.

How We Use Your Data

• Personalization: Save your favorite teams and players, display your predictions, and remember your preferences (theme, font, score visibility)
• Community features: Display your comments and poll votes to other users (identified by display name only)
• App improvement: Crash reports help us fix bugs and improve stability

We do not:

• Sell your data to third parties
• Use your data for advertising
• Track your location
• Access your contacts, camera, or microphone

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Sentry (sentry.io) — Crash reporting and error tracking. Sentry receives anonymous error data (stack traces, device type, OS version) when the app encounters an error. No personally identifiable information is sent to Sentry.
• RapidAPI — NBA statistics data provider. Your device does not communicate with RapidAPI directly; all data is fetched by our backend server.
• ESPN Public API — WNBA and NCAA game data. Same as above — fetched server-side only.
• EuroLeague Public API — EuroLeague game data. Same as above — fetched server-side only.

Data Storage and Security

• Account data and user content are stored on our backend server
• Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms
• API communication uses HTTPS encryption
• Authentication tokens (JWT) expire after 30 minutes; refresh tokens expire after 30 days

Data Retention and Deletion

• Without an account: Your device identifier and associated data (favorites, predictions) are stored indefinitely. Uninstalling the app removes the local device identifier. Contact us to request server-side deletion.
• With an account: Your account data is stored as long as your account exists. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the email below.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and on our website. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
